Responsibilities of the Clinical Documentation Specialist include:

• Facilitating improvement in the overall quality, completeness and accuracy of medical record documentation
• Obtaining appropriate clinical documentation through extensive interaction with physicians, nursing staff, other care team members, and medical records coding staff
• Educating all members of care team on documentation guidelines on an ongoing basis
• Demonstrating knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served
• Demonstrating knowledge of the principles of growth and development over time
• Maintaining quality admission reviews
• Completing follow-up of admission reviews
• Supporting the growth and development of care team members
