The Orthopedic Care Manager will primarily be responsible for the global management of ortho cases, as well as the administrative responsibility for the direction, utilization, supervision, instruction, and examination of the medical care of the member patients assigned to them. Specific duties of the Ortho Care Manager include:
- Reviewing of orthopedic care evaluations and progress reports to determine appropriate authorization or refer to Peer Reviewers when clinical information does not meet clinical criteria to render an authorization
- Receiving concurrent reviews on inpatient surgical procedures to determine appropriate authorization or refer to Peer Reviewers when clinical information does not meet clinical criteria to render an authorization
- Reviewing documentation submitted for surgical authorizations and durable medical goods
- Reviewing patient's status to refer the appropriate direction of care following a hospital admission
- Conducting ongoing availability, monitoring and oversight of non-clinical staff activities
- Responsible for conducting ongoing availability, monitoring and oversight of non-clinical staff activities
- Refer cases for peer review that do not meet clinical review criteria for either initial or continued authorization

- PT or OT license
- 2+ years of PT or OT experience
- Orthopedics experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills

- Physical rehabilitation or case management experience
